Thornburgh resigns, leaving position primed for a Democrat appointee
Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh announced today he would not be fulfilling the remainder of his term and will resign Feb. 15. Thornburgh’s early resignation will allow the Republican-held position to be filled by a Gov. Parkinson appointee, who will likely be a Democrat, during an election year.
