Chalmers and Arthur flunk out of NBA's 'good-behavior' school

Two stars on Jayhawks title team 'banished' from rookie camp

Two stars on the 2007-2008 University of Kansas men's basketball team that claimed KU's first national NCAA title in 20 years have reportedly been banished from an NBA rookie transition camp designed to teach incoming rookies proper decorum for an NBA player.

Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were reportedly asked to leave the camp after caught with marijuana and women in their hotel room.

The AP, the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Sports Network, the Seattle Times and the Fox Sports Network are among publications reporting on the incident.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal says the two will be fined at least $20,000 and also could face suspensions going into their rookie NBA seasons. They also might have to repeat the mandatory, four-day rookie transition program.

Chalmers will forever be remembered by Hawks fans as the player who nailed an improbable three-pointer as time expired to send the NCAA title game into overtime. Arthur also was a huge contributor, scoring 20 points and collecting 10 rebounds.

Chalmers was drafted in the second round by Minnesota Timberwolves then traded to the Miama Heat. Arthur was traded several times after being drafted, and eventually landed with the Memphis Grizzlies.
